Puntas de Calnegre is a small village along GR92 – E12 and takes you through regional park Calnegre and Cabo Cope. It is beautiful coastline trail. You can walk sections of it or the entire trail, but note that there is no public transport between the start and finish of the hike. This sea-side village itself it very small and is surrounded by glasshouses.

TRAIL NAVIGATION
Navigation for GR 92 is fairly easy. According to turist boards, there is also loop called “Cuartel de Ciscar” however I did not find it easy to follow or seen almost any markings for it. I completed the hike as there and back from/to Puntas de Calnegre following GR92. I recommend going all the way up to Calla de Ciscal, take a break and then return same way back.
If you wish to do loop walk, make sure to get the GPS map in the link below.
GR 92 is marked with with white/red striped flag on various landmarks. You can follow the trail in both directions. In some parts direction poles with time estimations is available.

TRAIL DETAILS
Puntas de Calnegre to Playa Baño de las Mujeres
Start at Puntas de Calnegre following on the road RM-D21, take care as it can be relatively busy road and there is no side walk. Once you see sight for the nature reserve, turn to the left and thats where nature park starts. The first part until Playa Baño de las Mujeres is relatively easy. The trail is very easy wide gravel road. The main challenge comes from steeper hill climbs and descents. You will also pass high up on the hills along Cala de Calnegre, you can descent and enjoy it, if you wish, otherwise continue on same terrain until Playa Baño de las Mujeres
Playa Baño de las Mujeres to Calla de Ciscal
After you enjoy views or even swim at Playa Baño de las Mujeres, continue on the GR path. From here the terrain gets more technical. The trail will gradually narrow down to single track high up along the hill side. The main challenge would be some of the hill climbs up and down as they can be very steep in sections with some scree, so take your time. I found the hike down to Calla de Ciscal the hardest part as it is narrow rocky descent with some drop next to you, I would grade this part as medium to challenging difficulty. The views are however spectacular and worth the effort.
Turtles
The beaches in this area are known as hatching grounds for turtles and are protected. It is apparently possible to spot turtles on the trail, I have not seen any. If you visit the beach, pay attention to any turtle trails and you should inform the authorities if you see any as they will protect the beach area for safe hatching. There are information board (in Spanish) to advise of this.
OTHER DETAILS
Tree coverage: No tree coverage, no shade on hot days. Bring sun protection.
Geocaching: There are no geocaches or Adventure labs along the trail.
Dogs: It is possible to do the trail with a dog, recommended to keep the dog leashed. It might be straining for some dogs/breeds. Bring enough water for your dog.
Shoes recommendation: Best completed in hiking or trail running shoes with good profile if you plan to go past Playa Bano de las Mujeres
Hiking poles: Not necessary if you plan to hike only up to Playa Bano de las Mujeres. Useful for the ascents and descents in the sections after.
Trail running: Great for experienced trail runners and good for hill training.

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
I completed this hike in March 2025 on Monday. The conditions were warm and cloudy, later in the day with heavier rain, I managed to avoid it as I went early. I have not met anyone past Playa Bano de las Mujeres, some people on the parts before, trail seems to be also frequented with cyclists despite the steeper hills. Expect the trail to be very busy during weekends, especially in nice weather.
